Governor of the Capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar met with the management of project implementing units, got acquainted with the progress of the projects and exchanged views.
The project to house 10,000 families to be implemented in seven years
Ulaanbaatar Green Affordable Housing and Resilient Urban Renewal Sector Project will be implemented in five stages over seven years, and within the project, 10,000 families will be housed on 100 hectares of land in the residential area.
The Mayor reminded that it is necessary to look at the actual situation, plan realistically, not to create debt in the capital city, to be responsible, and put in the economic cycle.
Roads to be repaired in two locations and new roads to be constructed in four locations
Ulaanbaatar Sustainable Urban Transport Project will be implemented from 2022 to 2026 and consists of three parts.
First, as part of the construction of comprehensive streets and roads, road works will be carried out in six locations. In this context, roads will be widened and repaired in two locations and new roads will be built in four locations. Second, within the framework of the public transport system, bus lanes and public transport stops will be improved, and demand-based public transport planning will be carried out. Third, within the framework of road and transport strategy research, long-term and medium-term strategies and plans for sustainable road and transport of Ulaanbaatar will be developed, and a road and transport accident information platform will be introduced.
Prefabricated apartment heat loss reduction carried out in eight buildings
The Ulaanbaatar Clean Air Project will be implemented between 2020 and 2023. The project aims to provide low-exhaust emission heating equipment and services to residents in the capital’s ger areas, and to develop medium-term measures to reduce exhaust emissions in Ulaanbaatar. In this context, three complete equipments for air and environment quality control were supplied, and state-owned schools and kindergartens were insulated. Moreover, prefabricated apartment heat loss reduction carried out in eight buildings. There are more than 1,000 prefabricated apartments in Ulaanbaatar. If the heat loss of these is reduced, the energy of one power plant can be saved.
Three tons of carbon dioxide emitted when one ton of food waste buried
Ulaanbaatar Community Food Waste Recycling Project is financed by the Asian Development Bank’s Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific. It is a pilot project for food waste recycling with the participation of citizens and organizations and consists of three main components. In the framework of recycling food waste with the participation of citizens, 50 households and five organizations will be tested and researched, and a food waste recycling plant will be established. Three tons of carbon dioxide are emitted when one ton of food waste is buried. It is more harmful to the environment and building a recycling plant is necessary.
Construction waste recycling plant to be established
Ulaanbaatar Solid Waste Modernization Project will be implemented from 2020 to 2024. In this context, a centralized landfill building to bury the waste that qualified with hygienic requirements, a construction waste recycling plant will be built, and machinery will be supplied for the centralized landfill. The new facility will receive waste from Ulaanbaatar.
After acquainted with the projects being implemented in Ulaanbaatar, the Mayor said, “Projects and programs should be completed on time. The capital should not be held any undue loss. There is great expectation about the ger area housing development project among the residents. Monitor the performance, make a timely plan and present your work every month.” In addition, he ordered to work in a coherent, speedy and percipient manner.
