The Prime Minister of Mongolia visited the eastern plant of ‘Tavan Tolgoi Tulsh’ LLC on July 14 and became acquainted with the works to ensure winter preparation, giving instructions to the relevant officials to solve difficulties encountered in the preparation.
In particular, the government tasked the relevant officials and organizations to reserve 200,000 tons of refined coal briquette by October 1. In connection with this, Minister of Environment and Tourism B.Bat-Erdene, the Deputy Governor in charge of the social sector, green development, and air and environmental pollution Z.Tumurtumuu and other officials visited the western plant of ‘Tavan Tolgoi Tulsh’ LLC.
To date, the company has stockpiled a total of 60,000 tons of refined coal briquette at industrial warehouses located in six districts of the capital city.
Deputy Governor Z.Tumurtumuu said, “The Governor of the capital city issued an order to prepare for the winter of 2022-2023. Works have been carried out in all stages to ensure the implementation. A decision has been made this year to include the Nalaikh district of the capital in the air quality zone. Therefore, the amount of refined coal briquette consumption is expected to reach 700,000”.
Minister of Environment and Tourism B.Bat-Erdene said, “An instruction has been given to mobilize the full operation of the eastern coal plant of ‘Tavan Tolgoi Tulsh’ LLC. The eastern plant has a capacity to produce 900,000 to 1,200,000 tons of refined coal briquette annually. Citizens of Ulaanbaatar city consume more than 600,000 tons of fuel per year. Therefore, we should raise the issue of supplying refined coal briquette to aimag centers and other cities such as Darkhan and Erdenet”.
